Warning! Your Ice Cream Could Make You Sick!

Are you a big ice cream lover? Do you have a lot in your freezer?

Before you take the next bite you better take a serious look at what you have.

The FDA, Food and Drug Administration, just announced a big recall of many brands of ice cream.

Seems that Totally Cool, Inc., is recalling multiple brands of ice cream products they produce because they may be tainted with Listeria.

MSN.Com just posted an article from Real Simple that the Maryland-based company produces items for brands including Friendly’s, Hershey’s Ice Cream, Jeni`s, ChipWich, and more, and each of those brands are included in this recall.

All of these now-recalled ice cream products are sold nationwide through retail stores  including Whole Foods, Walmart, Target, and more. The items were sold both in-stores and online.

These ice cream products are sold under several different brand names, and more than 65 products from various brands are impacted.

Here are the ice cream brands recalled:

Friendly’s
Abilyn’s Frozen Bakery
Hershey’s Ice Cream
Yelloh!
Jeni’s (ice cream sandwiches)
Cumberland Farms
The Frozen Farmer
Marco
ChipWich
AMAFruits
Taharka
Dolcezza Gelato
LaSalle

You should know that not all the ice cream products from these brands are under recall. It's mostly ice cream sandwiches and ice cream cakes. However, there are some pints included.

If you have any of the products in your freezer, check them out and CLICK HERE to compare yours to the list. The FDA says if you have any of the recalled items you should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund, or dispose of them immediately. Be careful because Listeria is nothing to mess around with. The MSN.Com article quotes the FDA saying:: Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. While healthy individuals may experience symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, a listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
