How To Inspire Young Readers And Writers In Grand Rapids!
Grand Rapids, Man About Town, Paul Jendrasiak posted this story on Facebook yesterday and I just had to share it with you. This is the stuff I'm always talking about! If I didn't have writing, reading, journaling, ways to express myself, as a young girl, non verbally I have no idea where I would be today. I take that back if I didn't have a creative way for me to express myself PERIOD I'd hate to think of where I would be as an adult woman as well. Some of us are just wired that way. We have to learn different ways to communicate. Kudos to Lori Slager, co-owner of Sparrows Cafe in Schuler Books. This is great for the kids of Grand Rapids!
The students at the Cook Arts Center are part of a program for Grand Rapids kids between the ages of 6-18. The goal of the Grand Rapids Creative Youth Center is to get the kids excited about writing and reading. Ways to publish their work, either online or in books.
I remember how excited I was when I saw my work published in my Elementary School Newspaper. I still have that packed away in a box downstairs. That's how much it meant;) Publishing it online for the world to see would be the best thing for these kids. Check out some of the creative things they have already written. Pretty good stuff...
