Growing up we were told we could only have dessert AFTER we finished our meal. And don't even consider having dessert for breakfast...that was unthinkable -- until now!

How about some Peach Cobbler, Banana Crème Pie, or Lemon Crème Pie for breakfast? Well you won't actually be eating those exact items, however Kellogg's is coming out with some new varieties of their Pop-Tarts breakfast food in those flavors.

First, a little history...Kellogg's first introduced us to Pop-Tarts in 1964. Who remembers growing up and seeing "Milton" the Toaster telling us about Pop-Tarts in the 70s?

The mother in that commercial is actress Elaine Griftos, who you may remember as Reuben Kinkcaid's girlfriend on "The Partridge Family". Milton's voice was provided by William Schaller. He appeared on "The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries" in the 70s as Carson Drew. He's one of those character actors that you've see so many times on TV and in the movies, but you never know their name.

Now back to the new dessert flavors of Pop-Tarts! The three new varieties were inspired by both pie and cake. I'd love to try all three varieties and probably will. I have Pop-Tarts just about every morning for breakfast (Chocolate Fudge or Brown Sugar Cinnamon for me. I used to really like the A&W Root Beer Pop-Tarts, but those have sadly been discontinued.) Now if they could only come up with a Coconut Cream Pie Pop-Tart. I'd be sold for sure!!

Delish.com ranked the flavors of Pop-Tarts and #1 is Frosted Strawberry, followed by Blueberry, Brown Sugar Cinnamon, Wild Berry, and Raspberry rounding out the Top 5. The ranking was done back in May of 2019, so some of the varieties listed in the Top 15 may not be available anymore.

So go to the store and get your new dessert flavored Pop-Tarts. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't have dessert for breakfast anymore.

And one final note, Pop-Tarts also is adding the flavor Tropical Mango for the summer. That sounds really good too!
