Last night, Grandville Girls Little League Softball scored three runs in the top of the 6th on their way to a 3-1 victory. The win improved their record to 2-1 in pool play. Grandville is now ensured of a spot in the quarterfinals of the Little League World Series.

Down 1-0 in the top of the 6th inning with one out and one runner on base, Grandville rallied for three runs then held on to beat West 3-1.

Asia Pacific's 16-2 loss to Southeast earlier in the day clinched a quarterfinal birth for Grandville. Grandville is one of five teams in Pool B. The top four teams after pool play advance to play the top four teams from Pool A. Asia Pacific's loss dropped them at 0-4 and a fifth place finish in Pool B.

  • Grandville (Central): 2 – 1
  • Victoria, BC Canada: 1 – 2
  • Makati City Philippines: 0 – 4

Grandville's final game of pool play is today against Canada at 4PM EST.

All quarterfinal games will be played on Monday. Grandville's game time will be set after today's games are complete and is seeding is determined.

The semifinals will be broadcast live on ESPN on Tuesday, August 16 at 7PM EST and 9:30PM EST. The championship game will be on ESPN2 on Wednesday, August 17 at 9PM EST.
