Will Grand Rapids Have Good Weather for St. Patrick’s Day?
This time of year Michigan is always known for wacky weather. As we approach St. Patrick's day, we have had a snow storm, thunderstorms, it's either been freezing cold or very warm. And, every once in a while we, surprisingly, get some good weather.
For the record, the warmest we have ever been on St. Patrick's Day was 78 in 2012. The coldest we have ever been was 10 above in 1941. And the most rain we have ever had on that special day was about an inch and a half in 1919, according to our Fox17 Meteorologists.

This week we're in for some actual good weather with sunshine and above average temperatures.
So, what about St. Patrick's Day next Monday?
Well, there is a big snow storm brewing in the plains, and Minnesota is expecting a bunch, with rain and storms in other places, so will that move over to Michigan?
We are expecting some storms on Friday and Saturday, the rain variety, not snow. We're going to have waaaaay above average temperatures by the end of this week.
But, St. Patrick's Day, this coming Monday, March 17, actually looks nice.
The average temperature for St. Patrick's Day is around 45 degrees, and it looks as if that is about where we will be under partly cloudy skies.
Here's the bad news. Most Grand Rapids festivities will be over the weekend according to Experience Grand Rapids. The Grand Rapids parade will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, downtown beginning at Monroe and Lyon and ending at Veterans Memorial Park. The big celebration, party if you will, is now Irish Off Ionia this year at Calder Plaza, also Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. All of this runs into the potential of rain and storms. Darn!
Well, take your rain gear and umbrella and enjoy. It will still be fun!
