Friday evening, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer extended the state's "Stay Safe, Stay Home" order until June 12 in an effort to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

The previous stay at home order was set to expire on May 28. Another order signed on Friday extended the state's state of emergency declaration until June 19.

The latest order, EO 2020-100,  states that Michigan residents should stay at home unless they must go out. Places like theaters, gyms and casinos must remain closed while the stay at home order is in effect.

In a press release, Gov. Whitmer stated,

While the data shows that we are making progress, we are not out of the woods yet. If we’re going to lower the chance of a second wave and continue to protect our neighbors and loved ones from the spread of this virus, we must continue to do our part by staying safer at home.

Bars, restaurants and retail establishments in regions six and eight of Michigan (the Upper Peninsula and Northern Lower Michigan) were allowed to reopen as of 12:00 a.m. on Friday. There is no word on when other regions in the state will be allowed to reopen as of the writing of this article.
