The Heart of West Michigan United Way is looking for a few good men, women and children with a heart. That's you, right? Right! Now, save Wednesday, June 21 on your calendar and see if you could spare just a couple of hours that day.

That Wednesday is United Way's Day of Action. They're looking for 1,000 volunteers to help assemble ready-to-prepare meals that will be distributed through Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank to food pantries to local families across Kent County. It will be a fun day, and takes place at the Van Andel Arena.

In Kent County, this food program is so important to families  in need. It helps with their monthly food budget. These meals are protein-enriched and nutritionally valued. They can be eaten alone or used to supplement a meal. They can be made easily, so if mom or dad works second shift and the older children are tending younger ones, they can make dinner for the evening.

Their Wednesday, June 21 goal is to package 200,000 protein-enriched meals, and do it in two 2-hour shifts.
