Unbelievably It’s The End Of An Era For Landline Phones!
The classic landline phone looks as if it will become a relic of the past in the very near future.
Do you still have one?

I'm betting some of you don't even know what this "rotary" thing is or how to use it! Ha!
I do, know, of course, and still sort of have one, although it's cordless. It's broadband based and, along with my cell phone, I have kept my "house phone." Truth is, I hardly ever use it, but there have been times it came in handy in a pinch.
However, there still are many U.S. homes and maybe even businesses, that still use actual land line phones, and it looks as if by 2029 they will be gone.
Our news partner, Fox17, reported AT&T recently announced plans to phase out its legacy copper network, which supports landline phones, by 2029.
Fox17 said that according to the National Center for Health Statistics, nearly 36% of Michiganders still use landline phones. And if that is the case, nearly 3 million customers will be affected.
I'm totally surprised because even though I have my "house phone," it's not really a landline, and I am 99% using my cell phone. I thought everyone simply used a cell phone. Guess not.
USA/Today reported that AT&T said copper wire infrastructure is antiquated, maintaining it is costly and better service is available through fiber and wireless broadband networks. Besides, the cost of copper is up and quite frankly people are even sealing copper phone lines.
So, how will AT&T handle the change?
They are offering a new service, AT&T Phone – Advanced, which allows customers to keep their existing landline phone numbers and equipment while transitioning to a wireless or broadband connection, Fox17 reported.
Will this work out? Only time will tell!
