With West Michigan experiencing it's first "heat wave" of the summer this weekend, with temps reach the lower 90's by Sunday, the National Weather Service is warning you to stay safe if you're headed to the beaches along Lake Michigan.

They've issued a 'Life Threatening Swimming Conditions' warning for Saturday afternoon and evening.

According to the National Weather Service warning, they are predicting up to 40 m.ph. wind gusts and waves between 5-7 feet.  They say that north of Grand Haven, the wave could reach as high as 8 feet.

The strong winds and high waves have the potential to create dangerous situations for both swimmers and those walking along the water's edge.  Dangerous rip currents are expected with the high waves.
