Car crashes seem to be a part of life here in Michigan. We all hope that it is the other guy and not us, but, regardless, they happen.

There are some spots, intersections, that are more dangerous than others around the state.

Detroit, as expected, would have the most. There is dense traffic in the D, and they all drive crazy over there.

But, Grand Rapids isn't immune to bad crashes. We are the second largest metro area in Michigan, so it stands to reason we would have a lot more crashes than other parts of the state.

Guess what? We have two of the most dangerous intersections with the most crashes, injuries and deaths in the state.

Fox 17 reports that Michigan Auto Law, one of 100.5 The River's fine sponsors, came out with their list of the 20 most dangerous intersections in Michigan with figures based on stats from last year.

I guess we should be grateful that we only have two from their list of the top 20 most dangerous intersection in Michigan.

Michigan Auto Law gathered all their information from the Michigan State Police.

Which are Grand Rapids most dangerous intersections?

Coming in at #7 is U.S. 131 at Wealthy with 112 crashes, 28 injuries, and one fatality last year.

Coming at #13 is Burton Street at 131 with 77 crashes,  and 21 injuries last year.

Those numbers seem pretty mild compared to Michigan Auto Law's top five. They are all in the Detroit area, Warren Center, North Pontiac, Redford Township Sterling heights and Farmington Hill, averaging 160 crashes last year.

Obviously, there are way more car/truck accidents every year. But to qualify for the honor of being designated as "most dangerous," you have to be deemed an intersection.

So, what qualifies as an intersection? The Michigan State Police say any road with a traffic signal, four-way stop or roundabout.

There you go. Be safe out there!
