
Michigan Counties with the Highest Cancer Rates Revealed!
Cancer is no laughing matter. A cancer diagnosis is a life changing, scary thing that nobody wants to hear.
To say the least, cancer is a critical health issue in this country and here in Michigan. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in Michigan. That is scary.

There are several Michigan counties that, for whatever reason seem to lead the pack of cancer diagnosis. The reasons vary, but, according to an article on Newsbreak.com, it said:
"Several factors contribute to cancer rates, from personal habits and genetics to air pollution or groundwater quality in a given area. People experiencing social, economic, or environmental disadvantages are disproportionately affected by high cancer rates in certain regions—including access or barriers to early screening and care.
Cancer rates also fluctuate by jobs: Higher rates of cancer can be found among meat industry and rubber manufacturing workers, and farmers."
The top six counties with the highest cancer rates are:
#6. Leelanau County
#5. Ogemaw County
#4. Lake County
#3. Montmorency County
#2. Alcona County
#1. Roscommon County
Mackinac County and Island do show up in the top 50 at #27, with Grand Traverse County right behind at #28.
The good news, if you can call it good news, is our West Michigan area, Kent, Ottawa, Allegan, Muskegon, Kalamazoo, is not ranked in the top 50.
