As the weather warms, we think of being outside, on the deck or patio, and having family and friends over. Naturally you will be serving drinks, pop, beer, cocktails, and you need a lot of ice. What do you do?

You run to the store and grab a bag or two or three, of ice for a few bucks. But now, you could grab some special and unique ice, but for a few bucks more!

Know what I'm talking about? The big cube you would find at a bar. If you are ordering a cocktail the bartender will usually ask if you want rocks or the cube.

Well, guess what? Now you can buy "the cube" in the store. At least Forest Hills Foods has them as a Reddit/GR poster noted.

Yes, it's $9 for six big cubes, a little pricy, but wouldn't you like a high clarity and classy big ice "cube" for you and your guests cocktails?

Bars love them, especially higher end joints. Okay, I wouldn't exactly call Ruth's Chris and the like a joint, but you get my point. Reddit/GR contributors noted that the big, clear cube melts more slowly so your drink stays cold but not diluted as fast.

I remember The Reserve, downtown. I would order a Manhattan and it would always be served with a "cube." The problem there was they charged a dollar just for the cube, for heavens sakes!

They also help create special events and more, in addition to, yes, making the clear cube. However, they don't sell the cubes retail. They make, and sell them for corporate events and clients. They'll even put a companies logo, personal name, whatever, on each cube.

Grand Ice, the makers of the cube sold at Forest Hills Foods, and possibly other places, only produce clear, specialized cubes for craft cocktails. They do an excellent job.

Yes, it costs more, but probably not a bad idea to class up the next party at your joint!
