Van Andel Arena was recently recognized as the second highest grossing arena worldwide for the decade by Billboard Magazine in their December 19, 2009 Year-End Double Issue.

The Crowd, an article in Billboard Magazine, applauds the Rolling Stones, U2 and Dave Matthews Band for being the touring titans of the 2000s. The article also mentions all of the top venues in the world.

Madison Square Garden is the highest-grossing large arena in the world for the decade with $777 million in box office from 880 shows. The number one midsize arena is the SMG-managed Atlantic City (N.J.) Boardwalk Hall, with a total gross of $150 million in box office. Van Andel Arena came in second in the same category, with a $126,524,794 gross. Some of Van Andel Arena’s events throughout the decade include sold out concerts by Taylor Swift, Metallica, and Tom Petty, stage plays such as Tyler Perry’s “Madea Goes to Jail.” and legendary performances by Neil Diamond, Mary J. Blige, Cher, Rod Stewart and John Mayer.
