Shocking! Are Christmas Lights Now Banned in Michigan?
What? Christmas lights banned in Michigan?

You cannot buy incandescent Christmas lights anymore. LED lights are all the thing now.
Remember last year the government banned all incandescent light bulbs from being manufactured because they were setting a minimum efficiency standard as a way to save energy.
So, we have the LED and CFL bulbs that last at least 25 times longer than the old bulbs and use far less energy.
So what about our Christmas lights? Will the light police be coming to our houses and taking our old incandescent lights?
No! You can still use them, but you just can't buy them anymore. As I'm sure you have noticed, all Christmas lights are now LED.
I actually think that is a good thing. the LED Christmas lights are smaller, brighter in color and are a lot cooler, heat wise, than the old bulbs.
That goes for the regular light bulbs. Yes, they do cost more, but as the Michigan.gov website points out, the cost is offset by their significantly longer lifespan and lower energy consumption saving users money in the long run.
On a side note to all conspiracy theorists, Michigan.gov website writes some people may think this is just the Biden-Harris administration overreach. That is far from true since this program was actually signed into law by George W. Bush, and was a bipartisan effort aimed at reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
So, have a Merry Christmas with all your Christmas lights. Enjoy the season!
