Because of a potential chocking hazzard, USA Today reported the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the recall of thousands of child car seats, citing safety concerns that could potentially cause injuries.

This notice originally came out on April 18. USA Today said the big concern was over the "Safety 1st Grow & Grow Sprint" child seat headrests, manufactured by Dorel Juvenile Group. The NHTSA said that these seats have a foam pad that "can present a choking hazard to a child."

It seems at least 180,000 child car seats are involved, they say. USA Today said that was alarming was the manufacturer, Dorel, had received 13 reports of incidents in which a child placed the foam pieces in their mouth. That is never a good thing.

You should be worried if you do have one of these car seats and either replace it or fix it. And, according to the NHTSA, Dorel will be mailing out a fix in early June which will be a new headrest pad kit and it will be free of charge.
