West Michigan: Give a Pint of Blood, Get a Pint of Beer

No you don't have to fight for a beer, but if you are willing to give blood, a West Michigan Brewery is willing to give you a beer.

Who doesn't love a free beer right? Since West Michigan is in dire need of blood a blood center has teamed up with some local breweries to encourage you to give blood and then reward you with a beer.

According to WOOD, the Versiti Blood Center has an incentive offering you a pint of beer for a pint of blood. Some of the breweries that are on board for this offer are New Holland Brewing Company, Rockford Brewing Company and Saugatuck Brewing Company. This promotion runs until the end of October.

If you donate a pint of blood, you will not only get a free pint of beer but you will also get a limited edition pint glass to enjoy that brew in along with a couple to a local brewery to claim your pint.

Ever since the pandemic kicked in, blood supplies have been at an all time low and local blood centers need donors big time.

WOOD reported that area vice president and director of donor services Dawn Kaiser said, "right now, we are short of all types, specifically of O+. We have about a day or less of O+ blood on our shelves. We're calling for all donors to come in and first time donors as well. If you've never donated blood before, it's a great time to come in and donate blood."

The good news is there are several locations to donate blood all across West Michigan that include Grand Rapids, Grandville and Kalamazoo.
