
Experts Say the Best Run City in Michigan Is Grand Rapids
The past few years have been a real test for leaders of major cities in the U.S. To run their cities effectively has been a challenge.
Leaders have been fighting the COVID pandemic, high inflation, unemployment, and homelessness, among other things that have kept many up at night.

Wallethub.com just released their latest findings surveying 149 top metropolitan areas in America, listing them as the best/worst run cities in the U.S.
They examined the quality of services, financial stability, education, health care, safety, and overall economy, with each one leading to the success or failure of a city.
Surprisingly, some of America's most famous cities rank very low.
At the bottom of the list coming in at number 149 is San Francisco! New York City is number 145.
Sadly, some Michigan cities fail in so many ways. Coming in at the bottom as well, coming in ranked at number 144 is Flint. Not far behind, or a bit higher in this case, is Detroit at number 140.
There are only two Michigan cities in the top 50 of Best Run Cities according to the Wallet Hub survey, Warren, landing at number 30, and, drum roll please, Grand Rapids ranked as the 23 Best Run City in America!
As far as our state as a whole, Grand Rapids ranked in the survey as the Best Run City in Michigan!
That is a lot to be proud of!
Cassandra Happe, WalletHub Analyst was quoted saying:
The best-run cities in America use their budgets most effectively to provide high-quality financial security, education, health, safety and transportation to their residents. Many of the top cities also have a very low amount of outstanding government debt per capita, which can prevent financial troubles in the future.
In case you're interested, the number One Best Run City In America is probably one you have never heard of, Nampa, Idaho. Who?
Idaho is certainly not known for its large population, but Wikipedia says Nampa is the third largest city in the state with over 100,000 folks! By the way, Nampa is the second principal city of the Boise metropolitan area.
