You Didn’t Know This Popular Actor Was From Grand Rapids
Does the name James T. Callahan ring anyone's bell?
He is an actor who has been in more than 120 movies and TV shows since the late 50's.

If you are watching Christmas movies over the holidays, then look up A Norman Rockwell Christmas Story. It's a very sweet movie and stars James T. Callahan who just happen to be from Grand Rapids.
Born in 1930, Wikipedia writes that Callahan went to school here, joined the army for a two year stint, 1951 - 53, fell in love with acting and studied at the University of Washington in Seattle. From 1959 on he just never stopped working, quite a trick for actors.
You might remember James T. Callahan from the TV sitcom "Charles in Charge" staring Scott Baio.
But that is far from all he has done because Callahan worked with them all. He was a great character actor who could fill just about any roll.
Over his career of five decades, you saw him on TV shows such as Perry Mason, Route 66, Have Gun Will Travel, The Untouchables, Dr. Kildare, The Twilight Zone, My Favorite Martian, The Fugitive, Adan-12, Love American Style, Marcus Welby, M*A*S*H, The Rockford Files, Benson, Knight Rider, Little House on the Prairie, Remington Steele, The A-Team, ER, 7th Heaven, and so many more.
Whether he was playing comedy or drama, the good guy, the next door neighbor, husband, a doctor, investigator, or a real bad guy, we as viewers bought it because he was that good. He immersed himself into each role he took and made it so totally believable.
James T. Callahan died in 2007.
