Remember earlier this week I wrote about more construction coming to our local highways and roads? Well, this weekend, it's really going to be a super pain on 131 through downtown Grand Rapids.

This will just be the northbound lanes on 131, and it will be from Hall Street, through the S-Curve and up to the Ford Freeway, I-196. The big pain of it all is that they will close two lanes, the left two. Can you imagine the backups? Oh the frustration of it all.

Thanks goodness it isn't going to be during a work day, Monday through Friday, but it will be a big hurt to weekend traffic through the city. The crews will be shutting the left two lanes down beginning tonight at 9 p.m. and not reopen them until Sunday night at 7 p.m.

What in the world are they doing you say? Fox17 says they will be working on the pavement and bridges. And with the closing of the lanes, ramps will be closed as well from Pearl Street and also from Wealthy Street to northbound US-131 beginning tonight at 8:30 p.m. to Sunday 7 p.m.

All of the other closures and work remain the same, which includes lane closures on West bound Ford, I-196, from Byron Road to 32nd Avenue with the left lane closed. And the other big expressway slowdown is I-96, West bound from 28th Street to Cascade Road, and I-96 East bound from Cascade Road to 28th Street.

Look at it this way. Pretty soon it will be Winter, and we won't have to worry about road construction. Wait a minute, that's nothing to look forward to.
