This is insane! At this speed, the wind chill has got to be incalculable. Watch this video of a U.P. snowmobile driver clocking nearly 100mph.

I had to look it up, but Wikipedia says "Higher-powered modern snowmobiles can achieve speeds in excess of 150 mph. Drag racing snowmobiles can reach speeds in excess of 200 mph." We're not sure what kind of sled Steve Sanner is piloting in this video- is it a ski-don't, an arctic-crap or grandmaha? You can use snowmobile slang and trash talk but you've got to keep giving it the gas and stay in the throttle to go this fast.

Sanner was riding in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, about 12 miles SE of Pictured Rocks when he shot this video and clocked 94mph on the GPS. Trail 88 is a groomed surface, meaning it has been prepared and smoothed out as much as possible to make riding conditions ideal. As you'll see in the video below, every little bump is huge at 100mph. Notice how the camera jostles as Steve's head is buffeted by the wind and the noise is incredible.

Would you ever do this? Have you?

Note: Always follow safety rules for your snow machine and observe all local laws and trail regulations.
