    It is a busy Saturday at Blandford Nature Center this weekend. From 9:30 am-1:30 pm, it’s Fall Wild Edibles. Fall is a season of bountiful wild edibles including nuts, berries, roots, and some surprising elements of common trees! Learn about the fall feast that’s waiting for you. This program will focus on identifying, harvesting, and processing wild plants. From 10 am until 1:30 pm, you can check out the Blacksmith Open Forge. This is an opportunity to learn the art and craft of Blacksmithing with demonstrations, Q&As, and hands on smithing! From 10 am to 11:30 am it’s Kinder Sprouts: Autumn. Fall has arrived at Blandford Farm and they’re calling all kiddos! Learn the art of end-of-season gardening during this hands-on program. Help farmers clean-up the children’s garden, harvest some late season plants, and take home a pie pumpkin of your very own! This program is for ages 3-10. Children must be accompanied by an adult. From 11 am-12:00 Noon, Join the furry friends from Paws with a Cause at Blandford Nature Center for a puppy walk! PAWS handlers and puppies-in-training will be at Blandford Nature Center to walk the trails and experience a new stimulating environment. Members of the public are welcome to walk with the puppies and learn more about the Paws with a Cause training process. (Note: This walk is for Paws with a Cause puppies only. All proceeds donated to Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy for research to END Duchenne.

    Many of you remember Jay Allen from the radio. He was also the announcer for the Grand Rapids Hoops, The Griffins, The Whitecaps and the Rampage locally. This past season, he was the announcer at Comerica Park for the Detroit Tigers. This Saturday, there will be a fundraiser to raise money for expenses for his family, as Jay receives treatment for stage 4 bile duct cancer. Music and food will be included in your ticket price. There will be a live auction, a silent auction, Chinese auction and 50/50 raffles. Cash bar.
