Christmas trees are big business in Michigan. Michigan produces over a dozen varieties of trees, the most of any state. Most varieties of trees take at least 8 years before they are ready for harvest. There are nearly 700 tree growers in the state.

There are 25-30 million real Christmas trees harvested each year in the United States. Michigan's annual harvest of trees ranks among the top six states in the country.
