It’s that time of the year, when pop culture websites and critics publish their annual Best Of lists and we heap praise on the best and most beloved movies and TV shows of the year. But what about the average moviegoer and TV-viewer? That’s where Facebook comes in. The social media site has released their top 10 movies and top 10 TV shows of the year, based on the most discussed titled of 2014. While some are fairly obvious, the lists might surprise you and inspire you to contemplate the overlap between what’s popular and what’s actually good.

'Game of Thrones' has drawn plenty of additional buzz in season 5 diverging from its literary roots, but those worried about the HBO fantasy drama's future can rest assured for at least a few years. Not only has the series officially been renewed through a sixth season in 2016, but is principle stars have now signed through season 7 as well.

HBO subscriptions have been something of a running joke through the TV industry, with a great many of the network's loyal fans sharing HBOGO passwords to avoid expensive cable packages, previously the only mean with which to watch shows like 'Game of Thrones' or 'True Detective.' Now, the company has finally acquiesced, and announced an independent streaming service due out in 2015.

Over the weekend we learned of 'Game of Thrones' season 5 that a departed character may yet make a return appearance from beyond the grave, but far more exciting is the prospect of seeing some of our favorite characters in vastly new circumstances. 'Game of Thrones' may not have any new footage to show us at Comic-Con 2014 (they haven't even started filming season 5 yet!), but they didn't show up empty-handed. The HBO series revealed the addition of a few new cast members for the upcoming season, which will see some of the action take place in Dorne, home of the late Prince Oberyn Martell.

HBO's smash hit 'Game of Thrones' might make for some very serious television, what with all that blood and death and battling and poisoning and dirty political machinations, but that doesn't mean that the series is without its own special humor, even if it not all of it makes its way into the final product. But she did visit the 'Game of Thrones' studio in Belfast, Ireland, for a meet and greet with some of the cast and crew of HBO's hit fantasy drama, and to glare at the famous seat of Westeros.
