Local Companies Recognized by Department Of Defense

Two West Michigan organizations are finalists for the "Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award."

The finalist employers are:

• Uniform Color Company of Holland
• Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety

The Employer Support Freedom Award is the highest honor given to employers for support of National Guard and Reserve members.  A board of military and civilian members select the businesses each year from nominations submitted by service members or family members.

The DoD will announce the 15 recipients of the 2012 Freedom Award early this summer following completion of a national selection board comprised of senior DoD officials, business leaders and prior awardees. The 2012 recipients will be honored with the 17th annual Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award in Washington, D.C. in September.
