Is Kate Upton The Detroit Tigers’ Yoko Ono?

Did you see the Major League Baseball All-Star Game last night?  Detroit Tiger Justin Verlander got the start and delivered a very un-Justin Verlander-like performance.

Why?  What has changed over the past week?  Well, there is one thing.  Verlander has been spotted around Detroit with model/actress Kate Upton.

It appears the two are an item.

Justin Verlander pitched a complete game on July 4.  He only gave up one run.  It’s the type of performance that we have come to expect from the man that many consider to be the best pitcher in baseball.

On July 5, Kate Upton (niece of Michigan Congressman Fred Upton) was seen at the Detroit Tigers game at Comerica Park.  She even tweeted about it while she was there.

Reports have the two being seen around Detroit at multiple locations.  Freep.com reports:

Verlander and Upton were spotted around metro Detroit over the weekend, including at Thursday’s Aerosmith concert at the Palace of Auburn Hills, and even made an appearance at Birmingham hot spot South Bar.

Last night was his worst performance of the season.  He gave up 5 runs in 1 inning.  Previously this season in 18 games, he had only given up 5 earned runs once.  He only gave up that many runs twice last season and three times in 2010.

Let’s not put too much into one inning of an all-star game, but I think it’s safe to say all eyes will be on Justin Verlander the next time he starts…that’s unless Kate is at the game.
