Well, I've never heard of the "transplant games" before, but I like that they'll be coming to West Michigan later this year.

The West Michigan Sports Commission and Spectrum Health made the announcement last week.

According to their website, the Transplant Games are,

a multi-sport festival event to help promote the need for Organ & Tissue donation. The purpose is to show the world that transplantation is a treatment that does indeed work.

The games bring athletes and donor families together to celebrate lives saved or changed by organ donation and to reinforce how important it is to be an organ donor.

The event will take place at GVSU's Main Campus in Allendale from July 28th through July 31st.  Volunteers, medical treatment and donor registration drives will be handled by Spectrum Health.  Their goal is to register 20,000 new donors by the end of July.
