A home on Grand Rapids' northeast side has been destroyed in an explosion.

Early indicators are that it was a gas explosion that destroyed the home.

WZZM 13 reports:

The fire broke out just after 1:00pm near the intersection of North Park Street and Cheney Avenue at a house on North Park Court NE. Smoke could be seen for miles along West Michigan highways.

Officials at the scene say that no one was home at the time of the explosion. The homes on both sides suffered minor damage. No one is appeared to be injured.
