Judge Dismisses Murder Charge Against Baby Kate’s Father Sean Phillips

Murder charges against Sean Phillips, the man previously accused in the death of his baby, Katherine (known throughout the investigation as "Baby Kate"), have been dismissed.

79th District Court Judge Peter J. Wadel dismissed the charge on Monday, stating that the prosecution has not been able to prove that Baby Kate was actually murdered.

Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass" has become an anthem of sorts for women everywhere. It's a none-to-subtle middle finger to the folks who perpetuate the idea that women aren't attractive unless they're stick thin. The song's popularity has made Trainor an instant star.

This week, she went on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" to perform, but before that, she got together with Jimmy and the Roots to perform "All About That Bass" and play it on classroom instruments. I think this is my favorite one of these videos yet.

Multiple Crashes Shut Down Westbound I-96 In Ionia County

Westbound I-96 is shut down in Ionia County due to multiple crashes. The stretch of highway is closed at the Saranac exit because of two multi-truck crashes.

One person was reportedly hurt in the first crash near the Clarksville exit.  And at least one person was injured in the second crash near the Saranac exit.  Police called for the jaws of life and AeroMed was put on standby.

Western Michigan University has become the latest campus in Michigan to go 100% tobacco-free.

The policy applies to all students, faculty and staff as well as visitors and contractors working on campus. The only exception to the campus wide mandate is that smoking is allowed in enclosed personal vehicles.

Missing 14-Year-Old From Marshall Found Safe In Atlanta

Hannah Marie Amaro, the 14-year-old girl missing since Saturday from Marshall, was located with a 29-year-old man at an Atlanta-area hotel on Tuesday.

The girl was located by authorities at a hotel in Georgia Tuesday afternoon, Marshall Police Chief Jim Schwartz said during a press conference Tuesday evening. She appeared to be fine, according the the Chief, but will be checked out at a hospital.

UPDATE (10:15 a.m.): Authorities at Fort Lee in Virginia have sounded an all-clear after what the base described as an “active shooter incident.”

The details of what happened are still not clear at this time.

An “active shooter incident” was reported Monday morning at Fort Lee, an Army base in Virginia, the according to their website.

The installation is locked down, the post said.

Mother of Sandy Hook Victim Writes Powerful Letter to Teachers

The mother of one of the 26 victims of 2012's Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre has written a powerful letter to the teachers of America.

Nebla Marquez-Greene had two children attending Sandy Hook Elementary that day. Her daughter, 6-year-old Ana Grace, was killed in the Connecticut massacre, and her son was uninjured in the attack.

Her letter, which was posted on the Education Week website is powerful, gut-wrenching and encouraging all at once. Read it after the jump.
