Rick James’ Motown Catalog Re-Released, New Biography ‘Glow’ Out [Video]

Rick James is the “Super Freak” hitmaker singer, producer, innovator and pioneer in the fusion of funk, R&B, rock and soul.

Today, Universal Music Enterprises is reissuing James’ entire Motown catalog in a 109-track "Complete Motown Albums" digital box set, which includes all nine of his albums. The music reissues coincide with publication of his biography, "Glow," written by David Ritz and published by Atria Books, a Simon & Schuster imprint.

June 17, 1994: We All Had Some O.J. [Video]

I remember June 17, 1994, like it was yesterday.

I lived in Gaylord, and it was 97 degrees that Friday. I stayed the night in an air conditioned hotel room and watched the whole thing on TV like everyone else did. I still can hear the police officer on TV say: "The Los Angeles Police Department, right now, is actively searching for Mr. (O.J.) Simpson” and could hear the audible gasps and whistles from the media. It was a bombshell no one had anticipated.

‘Goonies’ Director Richard Donner: ‘Sequel is Happening’ [Video]

The 1985 movie "The Goonies" is comedy adventure about a band of young boys finding a treasure map and embarking on a magical trek.

The cast included Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, Jeff Cohen, Jonathan Key Huan, Martha Plimpton and Keri Green. The story was by Steven Spielberg, the screenplay was written by Christopher Columbus and the movie was directed by Richard Donner.

The U.S. Postal Service was at center stage today at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas, with the dedication and release of the Jimi Hendrix Forever Stamp.

Recognized as one of the most creative and influential musicians of the 20th century, Hendrix displayed an innovative style that embraced the influences of rock, R&B, modern jazz and the blues.

I saw a story this morning that the Internet is turning 25 today!

The REAL guy who came up with the idea (sorry, Al Gore) wrote the paper on March 12, 1989, about "a proposal to make information sharing possible over computers, using nodes and links to create a web that would eventually stretch worldwide and become the modern internet."

His name? Sir Timothy Berners-Lee.
