The West Michigan Whitecaps released their schedule for the upcoming High-A Central League season, and it's a little different.

In order to maintain less human to human contact because of Covid-19, the Whitecaps will play a 20-week long six-game series with their opponents, rather than the traditional three and four game sets.

For instance, the Caps will kick off their season on the road in Fort Wayne on May 4 against the TinCaps. The team will play six straight games there before kicking off the home portion of their schedule at Lake Michigan Credit Union Park a week later on May 11 against the Great Lakes Loons.

That's the way the whole season will go, with six-day long sets every Tuesday through Sunday against a single opponent, followed by a travel day every Monday. This will limit travel costs and contact.

As far as fans go, the club says they're hoping they'll be allowed in starting on opening day.

“Even though there are a lot of questions about where the level of fan capacities will be in May, we’re still anticipating being able to put a limited number of tickets on sale” the club said in a press release. “The staff has done a great job at staying focused and optimistic. May will be here soon, and the temps are going to get warmer, that snow is going to melt, and the boys of summer will return. We will be ready.”Here's the whole schedule, as released by the club Thursday afternoon.
