It's been 14 years in the making, but the ship named after Grand Rapid's native, Former President Gerald R. Ford, is finally going to be deployed.

President Ford's 105th Birthday will be celebrated at the Ford Museum this morning at 9 a.m., and it's open to the public.

Six West Michigan Boy Scout Troops were a part of the USS Gerald R. Ford christening ceremony in Virginia earlier this month.

After 4 years of construction, the USS Gerald R. Ford is ready for it's christening ceremony. The ceremony will be held on November 9 in Newport News, Virgina.
