Rockford's new school year begins August 24th.

Parents and student must commit to their option for one full semester.

The meals are not limited to GRPS students.

It will take place every Friday until May 22nd.

This effects all K-12 public, private, and boarding schools.

The school district made the proposal after an increase in drug use.

Someone's going door-to-door asking for donations.

It's also a celebration for the kids with a bounce house and ice cream.

The goal is to improve engagement in the classroom and face-to-face interaction among students.

Students will participate in workshops and activities focusing on cell and molecular biology, engineering, math, physics and chemistry.

Some schools have already missed over two weeks of class time.
