Sesame Street

At some point in the SNL writer’s room, everyone must have realized that guest host Taraji P. Henson plays a monstrous character named Cookie on the smash hit Empire and, a few Cookie Monster jokes later, they were scrambling to call the producers of Sesame Street. Yes, SNL put Henson’s Cookie on the world’s most famous children’s program and the results are kind of spectacular.

Because there is nothing small children still learning to read love more than ultra-violent fantasy epics, Sesame Street has created a Game of Thrones parody. And we’re not talking about a simple excuse to dress up some Muppets in medieval garb. There are some serious George R.R. Martin deep cuts in this strange little sketch, which marks the first and probably last time that Sesame Street will obliquely reference brutal massacres, beheadings, and regicide.

With the movie "Birdman" taking home four Oscars on Sunday night, I thought we should honor "Birdman," err, the real bird man, Caroll Spinney -- Big Bird.

We've seen 'Sesame Street' take on the likes of such TV-MA fare as 'Sons of Anarchy,' 'Boardwalk Empire' and 'Homeland,' but can it master deductions when it comes to 'Sherlock'? Okay, it isn't exactly the great detective, but Benedict Cumberbatch himself making deductions with 'Sesame Street' muppets is the next best thing!

We've seen 'Sesame Street' take on everything from 'Sons of Anarchy' to 'Boardwalk Empire,' but the long-running PBS series' "Homeland" parody might be the most spot-on yet. Bringing Carrie, Brody, Saul and the rest to life as "Homelamb," you might be surprised by the adult humor 'Sesame Street' manages to cram into its latest parody.

I love the Muppets, don't you?  I mean, who DOESN'T like the Muppets.  And, Cookie Monster is one of my favorites.

Here is some fantastic news from Sesame Street and You Tube.  Sesame Street has reached the astounding milestone of 1 Billion views on You Tube.  That makes them the first non-profit to reach that lofty goal.

As a non-parent, I seldom (if ever) have the chance (or reason) to watch Sesame Street anymore. But, when I heard that one of my celeb crushes, Joseph Gordon-Levill, was on I just had to check it out. Apparently, the word of the day was "reinforce", and in teaching us the meaning, JGL has reinforced my love for him. Check out the video after the jump!

On Friday, hit children's television show "Sesame Street" will be airing a very special episode centered around a hurricane hitting Sesame Street and what goes into rebuilding it.

America's favorite eight-foot-tall bird stopped by 'Saturday Night Live' last night to discuss Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney's comments regarding PBS just this past Wednesday.

Some of the best memories of our kids childhood are PBS memories.  I don't mean that they sat in front of the TV for long periods, but when the were allowed to watch TV, we let them watch PBS.  You know what I'm talking about...Sesame Street, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood and The Joy of Painting.
