West Michigan has fared better than northern Michigan.

The Michigan DNR says power has been restored at Michigan state parks in the Upper Peninsula that had been without electric service since Thursday morning.

As of 4:30PM on Sunday, approximately 6,000 Consumers Energy customers remained without service from the Christmas Eve storm. Now, nearly all customers have had power restored. If you are still without power, Consumers Energy is asking you to contact them.

Over 3,700 Consumers Energy customers in Grand Rapids have been without power since about 9:30 this morning.

Consumers Energy is expected to cut power at 9 p.m. to allow crews to repair damage from Sunday night's thunderstorms.

West Michigan made it through last night's storms without too much damage. Some other areas of the state were not as fortunate. The storms had winds of over 70 mph and have left over 150,000 without power.

Despite some extra efforts, Christmas is a powerless holiday for many in greater Grand Rapids and across West Michigan because of snow, cold and the lingering effects of a weekend ice storm, officials said Tuesday.
