Now everyone can take part in a Mardi Gras tradition- gorging yourself on paczkis on Fat Tuesday, just before Lent begins.

Paczki have been helping to put the fat in Fat Tuesday for years. The Polish treat is widely available just before Lent begins, but nothing beats a homemade version.

This year, St. Patrick's Day falls on a Friday during Lent. This has thousands of Catholics in West Michigan asking, "Is it okay to eat corned beef on St. Patrick's Day even though it's a Friday during Lent?"

The Basilica of Saint Adalbert and Saint James Church have annually hosted a popular Lenten fish fry, but this year the fish fry has been cancelled and there are no immediate plans for its return.

Ash Wednesday means the arrival of Lent and a time of personal sacrifice for many. What is the most difficult thing you've ever given up for Lent?

I was talking to a friend of mine a couple days ago who said she couldn't count the number of people who came up to her and tried to run the "smudge" of dirt off her forehead.  She was kind of laughing about it because she had to stop them and say, "No, it's there because it's Ash Wednesday, you know Lent!"

I had such a great time yesterday, Tuesday,  taking the radio show on the road to the Family Fare store on Lake Michigan and Collindale, NW for Fat Tuesday.  It's tradition for us to broadcast there as hundreds of folks come to pick up the Paczki.

Woke up this morning at 4:30am and headed out to Family Fare on Lake Michigan Drive for a LIVE broadcast with Chuck La Tour.  I was filling in for Andy Rent who is vacationing at the REAL Mardi Gras in the French Quarters.  So much fun today...
