A bill introduced today, by U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and co-sponsored by U.S. Rep. Justin Amash, (R-MI) and six others, would abolish the federal Department of Education.
The bill is one page long and says, "the Department of Education shall terminate on December 31, 2018."
Amash is currently serving his fourth term, and took to Twitter Saturday to speak about president-elect Donald Trump's criticism of civil rights icon John Lewis.
Congressman Justin Amash thinks it's "great" that President Obama met with Kendrick Lamar, but he'd like to have a meeting of his own with the President "to discuss civil liberties and surveillance issues."
It all started when Congressman Justin Amash (R-MI 3rd District) responded to a tweet from the Washington Post asking if Taylor Swift should be allowed to "trademark her birth year."
Amash replied "no", Taylor Swift fans disagreed, then the Twitter wars began.
