Ford Presidential Museum

Captain John Meier, the first commanding officer selected for the Navy’s newest class of nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, the U.S.S. Gerald R. Ford, is scheduled to speak at an event for the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation at 7 p.m., April 30.

The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation will host Lynne Cheney as she visits Grand Rapids on April 14 to participate in a luncheon program, America’s First Ladies: An Enduring Legacy, commemorating former first lady Betty Ford’s 97th birthday. Former Vice President Dick Cheney will join his wife at the conversation.

Grand Rapids will host the “9/11 Never Forget” mobile exhibit today through Thursday,  September 9-11, at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum. Everyone is encouraged to join alongside GR Police and Fire Departments, Rolling Thunder motorcyclists, The Patriot Guard and Boy Scouts of America to greet the arrival of the exhibit at the Ford Museum. It will arrive around 5:30 this evening.

The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation, Library and Museum are once again joining together to commemorate the life and legacy of President Gerald R. Ford, Monday, July 14.

This Friday, July 11, is the third night of Movies in the Park 2014 at Ah-Nab-Awen Park, in front of the Ford Museum on the Grand River. Sponsored by Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. (DGRI) and Friends of Grand Rapids Parks, Friday's movie is Dreamgirls. It's a film about a trio of female singers’ rise to fame during the Detroit Motown era of the 1960s. (Can you say Supremes?)

And the winner is..... We will know officially Friday, October 4, who the big winners are for ArtPrize 2013.  The first round of voting ended last night at 11:59 p.m. and this afternoon, ArtPrize officially released the list of this year's top ten finalists in the competition. Now, for the second round.

It's a daunting task, but the Gerald R. Ford Foundation is up to the task. That task is to expand the museum with a new student learning center, create new, interactive exhibits and much, much more.

When you visit the Ford Presidential Museum right along with the kids, you can learn about a relationship of the President's that formed over 80 years ago. Willis Ward, was his name.  He and Gerald formed a friendship back in 1931.  Willis, from Detroit, Ford, from Grand Rapids...

This is pretty hysterical, but a little scary at the same time.  It was almost as if "The Birds" was recreated. While thousands of people packed downtown to say farewell to former First Lady Betty Ford this week, many of them were met with a most unexpected surprise.
