This rain just doesn't seem to want to stop around here, and many areas are having flooding issues. But, that's nothing compared to what has happened before. Remember 2013? Okay, how about 1904? Way, waaaaay back, in 1904, we had waaaay to much rain and neighborhood streets were flooded in, what is now downtown.

West Michigan has been hit with a large amount of precipitation over that last few weeks which has caused the Grand River to overflow its banks.  One brave family decided to take to Riverside Park and explore the damage done by the flood water...

Volunteers are planning to work throughout the weekend in Grand Rapids to fill thousands of sandbags as part of an effort to hold off West Michigan floodwaters. Several media outlets were reporting Friday morning that 1,200 sandbags had already been filled, but the city is hoping to fill 50,000 of them in order to keep the Grand River at bay...

Some of us are considering buying the supplies to build an ark if this rain doesn't let up soon. I think it's a solid plan. There is a huge potential this week for flooding along the Grand River.  So far in April, our area is over 3 inches ABOVE the average monthly rainfall of 1.65 inches. The forecast for Thursday calls for rain in the morning and storms by afternoon, which could give us an additional 3 inches of rain...
