Summer means getting outdoors in Michigan and fishing is one of many great Michigan summertime traditions. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources tells us what to expect when fishing in Michigan this year with their new regional fishing forecasts.

Spring is steelhead season in Michigan as the big trout return to the streams they were born in to spawn. West Michigan Drone took some great shots of the steelhead running up at the Hesperia Dam.

Anyone may fish for free in Michigan Feb. 14 and 15 for the state's annual Winter Free Fishing Weekend. No state fishing license is required.

As summer kicks off, the State of Michigan invites all to enjoy the outdoors! Anyone in Michigan may enjoy free fishing and no permit/license fees for ORVs on June 7 - 8. There will also be no charge for admission to Michigan State Parks on June 8.
