Woke up this morning at 4:30am and headed out to Family Fare on Lake Michigan Drive for a LIVE broadcast with Chuck La Tour.  I was filling in for Andy Rent who is vacationing at the REAL Mardi Gras in the French Quarters.  So much fun today...

Our sister Station, WGRD, is hosting the first ever Pond Hockey Tournament at Reeds Lake in East Grand Rapids. The River's morning man, Chuck LaTour, came up with the idea for the tournament. Chuck spent two weeks building the rinks. The tournament wraps up Sunday from 10 til 4PM...

Tonight was a PERFECT night to hang at Rose's On Reed Lake for the First Annual "Pond Hockey Tournament".  Our sister station, WGRD, got 40 teams registered to play on four different rinks, all constructed on Reeds Lake.  East Grand R,apids Mayor  Cindy Bartman welcomed the crowd...

After all these years, why would anyone stay up late in the night -- in the cold of winter -- to play men's league ice hockey with a bunch of other over-the-hill "used-to-be-somebodys?   Could be the competition.  Perhaps its the chance to relive the glory of the good old days...
