Did you celebrate Back to the Future day this past Wednesday? You know, October 21, 2015. "Back to the Future" day sure ended in grand fashion on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show  Wednesday night.

In October 1984, when Back to the Future would’ve been in early-development stages, a producer gave a friendly suggestion to remedy one of the biggest flaws in the project. The script was “terrific”, everything was fine, but that title. Wouldn’t something along the lines of Space Man from Pluto have a smoother flow, make more sense to audiences, and convey what the movie’s actually about much more succinctly?

Today, October 21, 2015, is the so-called #FutureDay, the day in the future that Marty McFly and Doc Brown traveled to in Back to the Future II. There’ll be a lot of celebrating and commemorating that day today (this year also is the 30th anniversary of the original Back to the Future opening in theaters), and here’s something pretty neat: Doc Brown’s original van is parked outside the real Twin Pines Mall for fans to visit and take pictures with.

In addition to returning to theaters and releasing a premium Blu-ray box set this fall, Back to the Future will also celebrate its 30th anniversary with a pretty big celebration. Today comes news of some exciting plans to help fans further celebrate the release of one of the best films of all time — there’s just one catch: it’s all taking place in Los Angeles.

With 2015 being the year Back to the Future II envisioned as the future, everyone is looking to celebrate what the future of 1989 was supposed to look like. Earlier this year, Nike announced they’d be releasing a version of Marty McFly’s self-lacing Air Mags. And now, Lexus may have one-upped them, releasing a teaser video revealing a sneak peek at an actual working hoverboard.

One of the most iconic parts of Back to the Future is the time traveling DeLorean. But, in earlier versions of the story, the DeLorean was nowhere to be found. Originally, Marty McFly was going to back to the 1950s in a refrigerator! And, instead of being powered by plutonium, it was powered by a nuclear explosion and Coca-Cola. It's almost surprising at this point that there has not been a 'Back to the Future' reboot or sequel. When you look back at the popular and successful properties of the 80s, there are few that haven't been modernized. Sony is practically falling all over themselves to get a new 'Ghostbusters' in theaters. This year alone saw new 'RoboCop,' 'Muppets,' 'Ninja Turtles,' 'Jump Street' and 'Transformers' movies. But, despite the frequency of these remakes, it doesn't look like you'll ever see a new 'Back to the Future' movie. And, that's a pretty great thing.
