ArtPrize takes over Grand Rapids for a few weeks each fall. We are now familiar with the competition, but it can be difficult to explain to someone who has never attended or isn't from West Michigan. Brian Kelly's new video shares the spirit of ArtPrize Seven. The video shows that ArtPrize is about more than just the art and the voting, it's the people that make the event what it is.

ArtPrize artist Mher Khachatryan has displayed work in galleries in Armenia and the United States. His ArtPrize entry "Dedicated to the victims of 1915 Genocide" aims to raise awareness of the over 1.5 million Armenians who died.

ArtPrize artist Lou Rodriguez's "I Used to be an Octopus" is a 20 foot dragon at Calder Plaza. One of the dragon's claws also works as a seat. Rodriguez is encouraging visitors to have a seat and take a selfie.

ArtPrize has announced ArtPrize Education Days is returning along with a new year-round arts program called ArtPrize Labs. Both will launch at ArtPrize Seven and offer opportunities for children and families to learn more about art.

ArtPrize is bringing a variety of programming to ArtPrize Seven this fall with ArtPrize Tonight. ArtPrize Tonight is 19 days of evening entertainment in three categories: On Screen, On Stage and Critical Discourse.

There will be one entry on the Grand River at ArtPrize Seven. Jane Cassidy's "Brumaire is the color" is an audio/visual installation which will be on the underside of the Pearl Street Bridge.

The third and final $5,000 ArtPrize Pitch Night winner of 2015 was awarded at the Indianapolis Museum of Art on Wednesday night. "Whisper", a 70-foot voice-activated table setting by Emily Kennerk, was the winner and will be featured on the second floor of 250 Monroe at ArtPrize 2015.

ArtPrize and Waterfront Film Festival have both enjoyed tremendous success in West Michigan, gaining international exposure along the way. This fall, Waterfront Film Festival is set to launch the first ever film competition at ArtPrize in Grand Rapids.
