An Indian news anchor for The News Express made the unfortunate decision to broadcast his coverage of the major flooding in India from the shoulders of a flood victim.  One would think that the reporter would realize his mistake and apologize for it.  Oh, no.  Not Narayan Pargiaen!

The Grand Rapids Griffins have won their first Calder Cup ever.  They defeated the Syracuse Crunch 5-2 in the 6th game of the 7 game series.

On June 17th the Tigers will receive their 11th Sports Illustrated cover.  Prince Fielder and Miguel Cabrera will grace the cover of the legendary sporting magazine.  The duo are featured as the "Bash Bros - The swing-from-the-heels power and awesomeness of Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder - Baseball's 21st-century version of Mantle and Maris."  Those are some pretty big words guys...  

Michigan's gas prices are among the highest in the nation peaking at $4.70 in Clinton Township.  Michigan currently has the 3rd highest average gas price in the United States; only Hawaii and Illinois have higher averages.  In general, the Midwest has above average fuel prices with Michigan, Illinois, and Indiana being hit the hardest.

According to a newspaper in Nigeria, a goat is being accused of armed robbery.  The story begins with two men attempting to steal a Mazda 323 and ends with a goat being seized by vigilantes.  Apparently one of the men stealing the Mazda attempted to flee the scene by using black magic to turn himself into a goat.

Henry Kissinger was in town for an event with the Grand Rapids Economic Club earlier in the week.  With only two months until former President Gerald R. Ford's 100th birthday, the event was to celebrate his contribution and service to the country.

A Florida county is taking a new stance on sex offenders.  Bradford County is posting personalized red sex offender signs in front of the homes of convicted sex criminals.  This new measure is in addition to the online listing of all the sexual predators in the country.

After being approved by voters in November of 2012, the Grand Rapids marijuana ordinance goes into effect tomorrow, May 1st.  When the ordinance takes effect, a person with marijuana will be given a civil infraction ticket instead of receiving jail time.
