Martin Lawrence Gets His Own Day In Detroit

The city of Detroit celebrated the actor and comedian with a special ceremony, where they presented Martin Lawrence with a proclamation stating that he had his own day in his honor.

From now on, August 30th will be a day honoring the legacy that Martin Lawrence has built over decades.

The best part is where this ceremony took place has an important meaning to Martin Lawrence.

Martin fans gathered around to celebrate Lawrence, who was emotional during the ceremony.

Do you remember the "Martin" show? From 1992 to 1997, Lawrence starred as the titular character in the hit sitcom.

You may not know this but the show was set at an iconic building and landmark in Detroit.

Plus, according to Martin's Instagram post, he never had the opportunity to visit the location. What better way to visit it than by having his day being declared?

Local officials designated August 30th as Martin Lawrence Day for his impact on the city of Detroit and his contributions to the entertainment industry as a whole.
