After 31 Great Years, Cedar Point is Shutting Down This Fan Favorite on Labor Day

After 31 great years, a favorite ride at Cedar Point will be no more. Snake River Falls debuted in 1993 and will close on Labor Day (September 2) 2024.

About Snake River Falls

When Snake River Falls opened in 1993, it was the tallest, steepest, and fastest water flume ride in the world, according to a press release from Cedar Point.

Cedar Point visitors who have gone on Snake River Falls know this is a ride where you usually get wet.

"This isn't a boat ride for the gentle passerby."

Riders are lifted 82 feet into the air and plunge down a 50 degree drop at about 40 miles per hour. Guests who choose to watch from the observation deck are likely to get wet as well.

Why is Cedar Point Closing Snake River Falls?

According to the park's website, Snake River Falls is being closed in order to "make way for [a] future expansion." As per usual, Cedar Point isn't dropping any hints about what's to come after the ride is shuttered.

Top Thrill 2 Remains Closed

In other Cedar Point news, the highly anticipated Top Thrill 2 remains closed. Cedar Point was forced to shutter the world's tallest strata-coaster just days after it made its 2024 debut.

Zamperla, the ride's manufacturer has been working on mechanical modifications to the ride's vehicles, but Cedar Point announced recently that Top Thrill 2 will be closed throughout the remainder of the 2024 season.
