Most of us have given it some thought, and others, myself included, have dedicated way too much time contemplating and plotting how to survive a zombie apocalypse in Michigan. When overrun by the reanimated corpses, the most important three things to consider are: Location, Location, Location. So, which Michigan cities offer your greatest odds of surviving an attack of the undead?

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released its "Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse" guide in 2011 following the incredible success of AMC's The Walking Dead. This tongue and cheek publication authored by Rear Admiral Ali S. Khan offered advice on how to survive a global pandemic but used the zombie takeover as a means to educate US households on how to handle a health crisis.

The CDC explains there are three important rules for surviving any type of contagious health crisis, especially a zombie apocalypse:

  • Stock Essentials: If you haven't figured out which of your friends is a prepper, ask. They and the CDC will tell you to stock up on canned food, water, and medical supplies, especially if you live in a densely populated area.
  • Know Your Escape Routes: While most would look at Michigan's peninsulas and assume our automotive escape options are limited, they forget we have boats, and they may be the fastest way to safety.
  • Team Up: The buddy system is a must and so is the quest for survivors; a zombie apocalypse is no time to go solo.

How does your current town stack up when you look at the above? LawnLove.com did a recent deep dive into your odds of surviving in Michigan, and the safest metro in the state is Grand Rapids.
