Wild Moose ‘Chases’ Three Michigan Skiers
When video footage was released of this wild moose amongst a group of skiers in 2024, it was being touted as “chasing” (a/k/a 'attacking') the skiers. The skiers included three Michiganders: 1) Kenneth William Rynearson, a chiropractor in Traverse City 2) Alex Momot, general manager of a Chevrolet dealer in Fenton, and 3) William Fohey II, a GM at a Detroit Chevrolet dealership.
They were skiing down a slope in Teton County, Wyoming, when all of a sudden, a moose came out of the woods and started running amid the group. The question is: was the moose chasing them? Were they near some moose babies and the mom was trying to protect them? Was the moose trying to attack? Maybe the moose was frightened by the human mass, was trying to run away, and got caught up amid them?
It’s easy to say “here’s a moose attacking some skiers” - makes a good headline. But at the end of the video, the moose catches up to some humans and doesn’t attack. It just careens off to the side and trots into the woods. It appears that the moose was having some fun and joined the skiers for a downhill romp. Or maybe it just got tired and thought “okay, I’m done. I’m outta here”. Or maybe they were far enough away from her babies.

No matter the reason why the moose was running alongside or 'chasing' the humans, no man or moose was hurt and it made for a good story around the fireplace. In the gallery below are images of the moose running alongside/chasing the skiers, followed by the video from whence they came...
