Michigan State Police Troopers Are Taking Drugs On April 26
In a move that sounds way more scandalous than it actually is, the Michigan State Police (MSP) is gearing up to take your drugs on Saturday, April 26, 2025. Now, before you start firing off angry emails, this is part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

According to a press release from the MSP, on April 26, from 10 am to 2 pm, all 31 MSP posts across the state will be collecting your expired, unwanted, and "Why did the doctor even prescribe these?" pills.
National Prescription Drug Take Back Day in Michigan
This is a biannual event, conducted in partnership with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and local law enforcement agencies. Why? Because, believe it or not, tossing your old meds in the trash or flushing them down the toilet is not the environmentally savvy move we all thought it was in the 90s.

Colonel James F. Grady II, the big boss at the MSP, said it best: spring cleaning isn't just about purging your closet of those jeans you swear will fit again (someday)—it's about getting rid of the questionable pill stash too.
What's Accepted (and What's Not)
The MSP emphasizes that expired and unused medications are a major public safety risk, and proper disposal can save lives. Pills only, folks. No liquids, patches, inhalers, or syringes allowed on April 26, 2025. Everything is destroyed, and no questions are asked.

If you can't make it to the MSP post nearest you, no worries. You can drop off your pills anytime between 8 am and 4 pm Monday through Friday, at any post. You can search for additional drop-off locations at DEA.gov/TakeBackDay or click here.
