Abandoned Truck Stop: All Alone in Monroe County, Michigan
WARNING: Under no circumstances should you enter this property. By doing so you risk bodily harm and/or prosecution for trespassing on private property.
It's curious why a truck stop along a busy highway would close down, sit and rot. There's plenty of trucks, cars, and hungry people that go by every day looking for a place to pull over. But, for reasons unknown to us, this place did just that, whether it was for lack of money, not enough customers to sustain, health issues, dangerous conditions...who knows what.
All we know is that it's empty, becoming more and more overgrown every year, and sits off the highway in Monroe County.
Taking a look at the inside and outside still-shots of this place, I find the outside ones more interesting. The inside is pretty much cleaned out with very few things remaining: no appliances, no bathroom fixtures, no old countertops, no signs, no moldy snacks, no empty bottles, no graffiti.....and no garbage! The outside, however, has a big pile of garbage/junk sitting back where the gas pumps used to be. I find the section where the pumps once stood the most interesting spot in the whole place.
There's also an old gas pump sitting out front, ripped-out walls, some tubing, tires, and other paraphernalia scattered hither and yon. Again, this place is nothing too spectacular, aside from the fact it's another slice of Michigania/Americana that has been discarded and neglected along the road. Have a look at some photos below.
