Michigan’s Tahquamenon Falls Riverboat & Trolley Closing Permanently & Selling Off Equipment
The Tahquamenon Falls Riverboat Tours and Famous Toonerville Trolley have been looking for an owner for quite some time now, and we originally reported that they were looking for someone to take over the Michigan-owned business.
Unfortunately, nobody could come up with the money or the interest in taking over the tour, and unfortunately, they have announced that they will be closing permanently and selling off all of their equipment. They recently announced on Facebook the end of something that has been a passion of theirs for a long time.

It's with great sadness we are announcing the end of our search for a new owner. Our listing has expired and we are not renewing it. We knew our chances were slim in the first place so this comes as no surprise to us. Our real estate agent did a wonderful job sorting through the inquires we received. We are going to sell 120 acres along with the gift shop and another 40 acres on M-28 where our billboard is. John Anderson with Real Estate One will be handling this sale 248-802-0949. They also said there would be an equipment sale in October that they will announce dates for at a later time. Many people have sounded off in the comment section with broken hearts, having many special connections to the experience which was one of the most popular in the Upper Peninsula:
I'm so saddened to hear of this. I took my Mom on thr Toonerville Trolly to the Tahquamenon boat tour to the falls not so many years ago and it was such a wonderful experience and memory for both of us. I am so sad that future generations will miss enjoying the entire wonderful and beautiful experiences you have brought to so many over the years. I am truly grateful for the experience you gave us together that my Mom and I can cherish. -Karen B.
It's a sad day to see them close, and maybe one day another adventurous person can open something similar.
